Sound Blog post

The software we used to edit our film is Canva. We worked as a group to edit different scenes in the film. I worked on picking a sound track for the film and Krystine and Izzy chose an alarm clock sound and making the film more diegetic sounding. The music genre we added was suspenseful and mysterious tone to match with her picking up the knife. This is what we did for sound in our short film.

Discuss the following… 

-What editing software or application is being used?

We used Canva to edit our short film.

-A discussion of the video effects used. 

The alarm clock ringing is a sound effect and mysterious music at the beginning.

-A discussion of the video transitions used. 

The video transition we used in our film was a fade at the end of our film.

-Problems encountered during editing.

Some problems that occur during editing is too long of videos, too many cuts and edits, and not being able to film all our footage in the 2 minute time limit.

-Solutions to problems encountered during editing.

Some solutions would be editing or cutting out unimportant footage so we can have our video in the time limit of 2 minutes. We did this for the texting scene in our film!

Challenges in Filming

 What are the challenges involved in filming? How are you handling these challenges? Is everyone pulling their own weight?  

Some challenges in filming is getting some supporting characters and peoples schedules to film. But we have already made a schedule for the time we are filming and everyone is filming our own weight in filming.

Title Sequence

 Describe the making of your title sequence. Explain your choice of font/ colors/ style (etc.) and decisions on what to include as a part of the titles. Explain how you/your group arrived at these decisions.  Include visual examples of all the choices your group originally suggested and denote which one you chose and why. 

Our title sequence will contain a font that represent mysterious tone with neutral colors to lead the audience to graces personality. This would give the story a more disturbed feeling while watching the film. The more elegant and fancy font helps give this feeling. We have arrive to this decision because it fits with our film title Deadly Grace.

                                  

Filming Blog

My first day of filming went well overall.We were able to use a tripod and find a location to film and captured a lot of footage. We got specific lighting and angles and have behind the scenes. We just need to start editing soon. But we need to still finish specific scenes like when Nate texts Grace and the guy putting on a suit and may need some retakes of specific scenes to match well with different edits.

Color Use

 Discuss the use of color in your project (think back to color theory). 

• How is color used within the setting, background, costuming, props, text, etc.

The color used in the film is a white a minimal background with the pink pajamas resembles calmness and peacefulness but the black dress resembles death, evilness, mystery.

• What meanings and messages are being sent through the use of these colors.

The meanings and messages being sent through the use of these colors are graces change mentally and what is happening throughout the film

Supporting Character analysis

 Explanation of supporting character(s):

• What is the character type of your supporting characters based on Vladimir Popp's analysis?

The character types of the supporting character are the protagonist.

• Describe their physical characteristics, costuming, and props associated with them.

The main protagonist is wearing a suit and is supposedly just a normal guy in the film.

• Describe who they are in terms of their personality and communication style.

They are just a guy the main villain found on a dating website about the same age as the antagonist.

• Explain their mental state, their motivations, psychological state, etc. 

They have a normal mental state and has good principals. 

• If you do not have any supporting characters- describe the use of props and set to help, tell your story. The prop being used in our story is a knife.

Main Character analysis

 Explanation of main character:

• What is the character type based on Vladimir Popps analysis?

The character type is the villain in the film.

• Describe their physical characteristics, costuming, and props associated with them.

Grace is supposedly cheerful but her character takes a dark turn in the end.

• Describe who they are in terms of their personality and communication style.

Their personality and communication style is those of an average kind girl but transfers to a professional serious tone.

• Explain their mental state, their motivations, psychological state, etc.  

Their mental state is very serious and professional and has a messed up phycological state in the fact she is not an everyday protagonist.

Representation

What individuals or groups are being represented within your film?

The individuals and groups represented in my film is dating in teens or people who has a bad experience in dating online.

• How will you be portraying specific individuals, groups, and events to your audience?

We will be portraying specific individuals and events to our audience by showing representation to our feminine audience.

• Will you be using stereotypes or counter stereotypes through your film?

There will not be any stereotypes in our film instead we will be using counter stereotypes.  

• How are you challenging representation with your film and what viewpoints will be focused on throughout your film?

The view points focused throughout our film is femininity and we are challenging the stereotype that all women seen as weak.

• Do you feel you need to make any edits to improve your characters or how they are being represented within the film? If so, what changes are you going to make?  

We may have to add edits to improve the tone of the scene and help the film run smoothly.

Costuming

 We chose these costumes because the pajamas in the beginning of the film give and almost cheery vibe until she buts on a dark dress which match the undertone of Graces personality. Graces character is meant to be a happy character but at the end she turns dark. Grace will then change into a dark dress. The other character is wearing a suit to represent graces partner. This is what the costuming represents in our film and the messages it will send.

• Who will you get to be in your film? I will be one of the main characters in the film.

Costumes

• Will the costumes need to represent a particular time period? No, the costumes will represent the present tense.
•  Do you already have the pieces for the costumes? Yes, I already have dresses and a suit ready for the lead roles.
• Do parts need to be made or purchased? We have everything needed for our film without  purchasing equipment.

Props

• What props are needed for filming? A prop knife is needed for filming.
• Do they need to be made/purchased? No, my item does not need to be made or purchased.

Locations

• Have you found and chosen all locations? No, but we have most locations found.
• Have you received permission to film in all locations? Yes in most locations.
• Do any changes need to be made in the locations chosen? No, changes are needed.

Dates and times

• When do you plan on filming? I plan on filming soon throughout next week.
• Do you have a schedule set up with the members of your group/actors? No, we dot currently have schedule but we are working on it.
• Is there a specific time of day that you need to film? We will film in morning through evening to match with the script.
• What is the lighting going to be like for that particular time? Do you need to supply your own light? The lighting will turn to bright sunny lighting and we will use a flashlight to create different scenes.

Film equipment

• What type of equipment will be needed for filming? Just an iPhone is needed and a flashlight.
• How are going to obtain these pieces of equipment? We have these equipment currently.
