Final Project

 

Finished Project Feelings

 Reflect on how you feel now that the project is complete. (should be close to your last post, obviously)  Use the prompts below to help in writing your reflection post. 

Write about issues you had during your project and how you fixed them.

We had trouble fitting all the scenes in the 2 minute time limit but we sped up some scenes and had to cut specific scenes.

Write about changes that had to be made within your story.

The scene with the guy putting on the suit was not in our short film because my family member couldn't play the role.

Write about things that your learned during the process of your project.

We learned how to edit scenes and put them together to create a full formed video. We also learned to overlay audio on top of the video and how to use these shots and edits in real life.

Write about how you used the information you learned in class to help in creating your project.

We used the information in class by using representation in our film to represent feminism and using real life edits. Also incorporating transitions to our film and props like the knife and different shots. 

Editing Post 2

 Each post should include NEW versions of the following 

-photos of the computer screen during editing 

-photos of the students involved in editing 

 

Discuss the following… 

- amount of time spent editing 

We spent about a week on editing.

- people involved in editing

We all worked together to edit but the person who mainly edited our film is Krystine.

- a discussion of additional filming you may be doing/ may have done 

We had to re-do some scenes and add them to our film in the time limit we have.

Updated Script and Storyboard

 Showcase any changes you have made within your script. Post your updated script to this post.

Create a new storyboard that reflects the re-shooting and editing of the film. Describe the changes you made from the initial storyboard and WHY you made those changes. Post must include NEW storyboard with lots of descriptions (including sounds)

We changed a few things from our latest storyboard for example the guy putting on the suit because there was no one available to film it. We also added more edits and camera angles to our film and sounds. 

Lighting

 Discuss the use of lighting in your project- how does it contribute to the feel, mood etc. Did you edit the lighting in post production? 

The lighting in our project contributes to the mood by giving it a warm everyday feel but then during the lighting dark and dim represents grace’s personality switch in her behavior. Yes, edited the lighting in post production after recording to make some needed adjustments. 

Group Dynamics

 Discuss group dynamics- how has it been going? Has everyone been pulling their weight? If doing the project alone, discuss people who may have helped in filming or teaching you editing. You also need to discuss what you have personally felt the most challenged by while planning and creating your film opener.

Our filming as been going good so far. We have completed a proper title and font for the opener and everyone has equally been pulling their weight. We still need to finish editing which might be the most challenging because of all the cuts and transitions. 

Sound Blog post

The software we used to edit our film is Canva. We worked as a group to edit different scenes in the film. I worked on picking a sound track for the film and Krystine and Izzy chose an alarm clock sound and making the film more diegetic sounding. The music genre we added was suspenseful and mysterious tone to match with her picking up the knife. This is what we did for sound in our short film. 

Editing Post 1

Discuss the following… 

-What editing software or application is being used?

We used Canva to edit our short film.

-A discussion of the video effects used. 

The alarm clock ringing is a sound effect and mysterious music at the beginning.

-A discussion of the video transitions used. 

The video transition we used in our film was a fade at the end of our film.

-Problems encountered during editing.

Some problems that occur during editing is too long of videos, too many cuts and edits, and not being able to film all our footage in the 2 minute time limit.

-Solutions to problems encountered during editing.

Some solutions would be editing or cutting out unimportant footage so we can have our video in the time limit of 2 minutes. We did this for the texting scene in our film!

Challenges in Filming

 What are the challenges involved in filming? How are you handling these challenges? Is everyone pulling their own weight?  

Some challenges in filming is getting some supporting characters and peoples schedules to film. But we have already made a schedule for the time we are filming and everyone is filming our own weight in filming.

Title Sequence

 Describe the making of your title sequence. Explain your choice of font/ colors/ style (etc.) and decisions on what to include as a part of the titles. Explain how you/your group arrived at these decisions.  Include visual examples of all the choices your group originally suggested and denote which one you chose and why. 

Our title sequence will contain a font that represent mysterious tone with neutral colors to lead the audience to graces personality. This would give the story a more disturbed feeling while watching the film. The more elegant and fancy font helps give this feeling. We have arrive to this decision because it fits with our film title Deadly Grace.
